WOYWW #196

Yipeeeee it’s Wednesday again…. Happy WOYWW to you…
Unless you are visiting via Stamping ground blog you may be wondering what on earth is WOYWW – well, it means "What’s On Your Workdesk Wednesday" and it's the weekly blog hopping adventure which is kindly organised by Julia over at Stamping ground for us to have a nose at each other’s workspaces. Pop over to Stamping Ground for the details and to join in the fun.

Craft space 1.- not quite a desk - as its the top of a cupboard but when short of space anything will suffice. Had a few treats this week including some little alphabet stamps, chronology tri-boss folder, Urban bird print stamps and some X-cut nesting dies… plus some Galeria structure gel which I’ve never used before – but it looks interesting.

Craft space 2. – also not quite a desk, just something my husband knocked together but I can sit at this and it does have some shelves underneath too. I’ve made do with this for a few years but having seen all your lovely craft spaces/rooms DH doesn’t know we are in for a major change pretty soon LOL.
So..on the desk I have a yellow grungy card made from some bits that were on my desk last week and using that acetate I printed out a few weeks ago.
Also made my mums card for Mothers day, but not sure about it, as not my usual style.

Not certain where the Mum stamp came from – probably free in a magazine. Coloured little flower with Gel pens and added some glitter glue. Made flower and painted it with Twinkling H20s put brad in centre. Also painted bird on the branch die.

The acetate and bits I started with

The finished card

The A5 piece of yellow card already had red and black ink splodged over it and the acetate seemed to look nice over the top of that without any alterations. Just had to decide on a design that wouldn’t cover my granddad(as a boy) up completely.
I cut up the yellow card and stuck it onto a another card, the bits left over I put through a 'ribbler' and used black permanent marker pen to accent the edges, then added some glitter glue randomly in the creases.

The small flower stamped square I already had; I added some glitter glue to and layered it to some black card with a Martha Stewart punch used on one side and some ribbled black card stuck on opposite side. Again added some glitter glue.

Butterfly was coloured black and yellow and then added some red rub-on over top and glitter glue around edge of wings.

Well that's my lot for now - I will be trying to get around to as many blogs as possible today and during week, to see what you have been up to.
Thank you for visiting, and for any comments left. Have a good week, Happy Crafting...  Gill x

  2. LOVED everything on your desk or cupboard top, whatever works is always great :-). My desk is actually the counter top from a furniture store that I used work at and when it closed down the owner was going to throw the top away...well I said 'hang on can I have it?' and he said fine as he would rather see it go somewhere then have to throw it out! It is very heavy and in the last 3 moves, my friends have said NEVER again are they moving it for me hehehe. But it is a fantastic desk! I loved the yellow card in all it wonderful grungeness, just beautiful, and I think you Mum will treasure the card. Happy WOYWW.

  3. Hi Gill, we're both showing two 'desks' this week :) One of mine is a length of kitchen worktop that my husband knocked up for me too - because it is at standing height, I get to stretch my legs instead of sitting all the time. Your cards are so different in style - both terrific though. I love the 'Mum' font, and you are so lucky to have that photo of your grandfather as a boy. Have a happy WOYWW, Elizabeth x #26

  7. Well I love your Mother's Day card, it's gorgeous and just shows what a flexible style set you have. I also love the veiled threat over the re-shaping of the craft area - I promise he'll not understand why, as you've had the desk you're using for years without cause for change. It's OK, if you blame WOYWW..collectively we have very broad shoulders!!

  24. Beautiful cards Gill! I used some acetate not long ago on a card and the ink (alcohol) really smeared badly even after sitting a week or so with nothing on or by it. Must be the acetate was oily or something. Made a mess none the less. Thanks for dropping by and visiting at my desk! I enjoyed getting a peak at your projects and looking yours! Have a great week. 42. Hi Gibby - better late than never this week! I had never thought about using twinkling H2O's on a flower - I guess I am thinking you used tissue paper but that would be pretty much impossible so....I really need to play with those paints; I pretty much have only used them for 2 dimensional pieces, but your flower has inspired me. And your card is wonderful...so many layers with great contrast. Hope you're having a good week!

  43. You've made some stunning projects!!! Well done, you!

You might want to consider a WorkBox like I have. Holds a ton and can close up too if you have limited space. Not inexpensive, but worth every penny to me!!!

  44. Gibby, what a wonderful site you have and what super cards you make. to encourage others to look at your blog, I have given you the Liebster award and you see on my blog http://cardsandbits.blogspot.co.uk/

    1. aww thanks Chris... (I have posted message on your blog too) but many congratulations for receiving this award and thank you so much for nominating me, however I was lucky to have received this already in February and rather than dupelicate it, perhaps you would like to give it to another instead. It was a really kind thought and much appreciated.
      thanks again... Gill x
